Our fees, explained
One donation fee: 6% + $0.75.
This includes payment processing, standard delivery of funds to the nonprofit, and SimplyGift. There is no additional standard payout fee deducted later from the nonprofit’s promised proceeds.
Choosing to cover the fee
We calculate 6% of your intended donation, round to the nearest cent, and add $0.75. If you cover the fee, we add it to your payment and the nonprofit receives your full intended donation. Otherwise, the fee comes out of your donation. Coverage is optional and is not selected for you.
$5.00 donation
SimplyGift fee: $1.05
With coverage: pay $6.05; the nonprofit receives $5.00.
Without coverage: pay $5.00; the nonprofit receives $3.95.
$100.00 donation
SimplyGift fee: $6.75
With coverage: pay $106.75; the nonprofit receives $100.00.
Without coverage: pay $100.00; the nonprofit receives $93.25.
What the fee includes
The allocations below explain how we built our combined price. They are not separate charges. Provider percentages apply to different amounts, so actual expenses and SimplyGift’s retained revenue vary.
Card processing
2.9% + $0.30
Stripe's standard domestic online card rate applies to the entire payment, including fee coverage.
Fund distribution
0.25% + $0.25 allowance
Our price budgets for an individual standard payout. Donations can share a payout; those savings remain with SimplyGift.
Platform routing
0.25% allowance
Our pricing includes a conservative routing allowance. Whether Stripe charges this in addition to payout costs depends on the applicable account agreement.
SimplyGift
2.6% + $0.20 allocation
The remaining fee supports the platform, refund and dispute losses, and SimplyGift revenue. Actual retention varies with processing and payout costs.
Provider references: Stripe Payments pricing and Stripe Connect pricing. Your combined SimplyGift fee is shown before payment, regardless of how these costs are allocated.
Delivery of funds
SimplyGift collects donations and controls their release to the nonprofit. Payment success, settlement, release, and arrival at the nonprofit’s bank are different stages. Scheduled payouts can combine donations. SimplyGift retains batching savings and absorbs ordinary included-cost overruns; neither changes the nonprofit amount shown at checkout.
Nonprofit subscriptions
Standalone SimplyGift is $5.00 per organization per month, regardless of staff count. Nonprofits can apply directly without SimplyCase.
The SimplyCase connection is an optional $5.00 per license per month at every tier, applied to all purchased licenses. It connects program metrics, restricted funds, and donations to SimplyCase and creates or links your organization’s SimplyGift profile.
Subscription charges are separate from donation fees. Donor fee coverage does not pay the nonprofit’s software subscription.
Refunds and disputed payments
Contact the nonprofit about a donation refund. A refund or reversal can reduce the donation available to the nonprofit. Stripe does not return original processing and Connect fees on refunded payments, and disputes can incur additional costs. SimplyGift’s fee helps fund those risks; fee coverage does not make a donation immune to refund or reversal.
We do not charge donors an additional processing or dispute bill after checkout. Any refund confirmation must state the donation and fee amounts returned.
Your own bank charges
This schedule describes USD donations and standard payouts. Charges your own bank imposes, such as foreign-exchange fees, are outside SimplyGift’s fee coverage.
